- Archie is a little shy at first, so he will need an adopter who is willing to work with him and be patient as he adjusts to his new environment.
- Archie has some allergies that were responsible for pushing back his adoptable date many times. He is currently on Instinct Limited Ingredient Lamb, Grain Free and is doing very well on it.
- Adopters should avoid foods with chicken, beef, and grains like potato, rice, and corn.
- To help with allergies, Archie is on Apoquel. FYHAH will cover the cost of this prescription for up to 6 months as long as the adopter uses FYHF resources like Follow Your Heart Animal Hospital and Strive Pharmacy.
"How it started 😤 // How it ended 😴
Archie is a sweet 1.5-2 year old shepherd mix, weighing in at 70 pounds. He’s had some allergies so we’ve adjusted his diet (again), and his skin is looking a lot better. He has a recheck with the doctor on Friday and should be up for adoption soon! His future family may just need to buy certain food.
Archie has a lot of potential. He just needs a loving family to help him see the world isn’t a scary place 💛
He’s a quick learner! He knows sit, stay, come, down, jump, shake. He is crate trained (plastic crate), house trained (only two accidents) and knows how to use the doggy door. Over time, he’s grown to be a cuddler but only when he wants to be.
Strangers are hit or miss, but he’s not aggressive, just very shy. He would do well with other dogs (no cats). Older children would be best, but he did meet toddlers over the weekend and after observing them for a while, he let them pet him. He has spurts of energy and sleeps most of the day (he snores). Archie has potential to be an athletic dog; he would just need training to up his endurance." - foster mom Alicia
